Quotes that stir-(fry) me:
Inspiration gives no warnings. (Gabriel García Márquez)
It is said that there is no such thing as a free lunch. But the universe is the ultimate free lunch. (Alan Guth)
Imagination will often take us to the worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere. (Carl Sagan)
All (wo)men dream. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous (wo)men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. (I modified a quote from T. E. lawrence )
Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot. (Charlie Chaplin)
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, where knowledge is free. Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls. (Good old Tagore. Probably the most important to me among all four. Used to be written in the first page of our school diary every year at South Point and unknowingly it has left an impact after reading it again and again for years.)
Talking of dead habit, I try my best to keep up my relished childhood habit of reading novels, from actual hand-held books preferably, written by authors around the world (translated in some cases). Often update about those on Goodreads! I developed a fondness for hiking in picturesque locations as an adult and try to go regularly.
Things I enjoyed doing almost seriously outside science...but did not feel like pursuing seriously at the end...
I've been trained in Rabindrasangeet (music of Rabindranath Tagore) for more than a decade since the age of seven under the tutelage of Gitabitan, an institution specialising in this genre of music in Kolkata, India. I have also been trained in painting by an excellent artist-tutor and I was assessed under the board of Bangiyo Sangeet Parishad (earned mutiple distinctions in my senior diploma) for several years -- a few of my artworks were displayed in a group exhibition at Gaganendra Shilpa Pradarshashala (art gallery), Kolkata in 2021.
